"Fake President": sixty days in, and the Wall Street Journal is fed up

Okay, I’m going to link to the Wall Street Journal here, but don’t expect to find anything but faded glory, since they hold on to their precious words tighter than tick on a hound dog’s tail. If you’re not a subscriber, they’d just as soon you go away. The online version appeared Tuesday night, ahead of the Wednesday morning print edition.

But it’s abundantly clear that the editorial board of the WSJ is fed up with Hair Twittler. They were never that fond of him to begin with, but the constant lies, and then the more lies to cover up the lies, are just too much, even for them. I’ll only quote as much as I can under fair use, so this will give you a taste. After discussing the “wire tapp” tweet:

Yet the President clings to his assertion like a drunk to an empty gin bottle, rolling out his press spokesman to make more dubious claims.

They go on to recount the false assertion that British intelligence (GCHQ, their version the NSA) did the wiretap, followed by GCHQ’s public denial, followed by British news reports that the U.S. had apologized for the false claim (which they almost certainly did), followed by Sean Spicer’s flat-out denial that there was any such apology (which was almost certainly another lie, to cover up the fact that the original claim was a lie about yet another lie.) Whew.

And finally closing with this:

Two months into his Presidency, Gallup has Mr. Trump's approval rating at 39%. No doubt Mr. Trump considers that fake news, but if he doesn't show more respect for the truth most Americans may conclude he's a fake President.

Don’t expect any more love from the financial district, Donald. They know a bankrupt when the see one.
